DBMS/COPY

OCTOBER 1989:

JUSTIFICATION OF SOFTWARE ACQUISITION

The Software package "DBMS/COPY PLUS" is being acquired for its ability to translate files between many different IBM PC software formats. The immediate application for the product is to translate files generated by LOTUS 1 2 3, DBASE3, and SYSTAT. The DOE Project, "National Radiobiology Archives", which is acquiring the product, has a large task related to the standardization of electronic information which is received in a multitude of formats.

Chuck Watson

I have just acquired DBMS/COPY for my PC. It provides translation between over 60 DOS database and statistical analysis package formats. It is extremely easy to use, and it works! Without training, or more than a casual look at the manual, I was able to copy a dBase IV .dbf file into a minitab .mtw file, without any knowledge of the data. The column identifiers were preserved, and the resulting file was recognized by the Minitab software. A description of DBMS/COPY is attached. I think DBMS/COPY will be an invaluable tool. I have a demonstration diskette available for those with further interest.
