Overview
Roughly 500 boxes of paper records exist, primarily stored at Pickens-Kane, and some within the lab.
Collections
Collections from several institutions made their way to us. Some items were disposed of due to hazard concerns, and others were donated to other organizations. See USTUR Page as WSU
- Dr. J. Newell Stannard Collection / Aka JNS
- Are we actually in possession of this collection?
- The NRA Stannard Collection compliments the University of Tennessee Library Radiation Research Collection which contains Dr. Stannard’s original writings.
- University of California at Davis Collection - Transferred to NRA in 1992.
- Dr. Miriam Finkel Collection

Identifiers/Barcodes
Many hands have been involved in labeling the boxes. They all had their various conventions. The boxes are currently stored at Pickens-Kane.
- Pickens-Kane Storage Identifiers:
- Green 7-digit Numbers commonly starting with 251, 256, 258. Also a yellow/tan sticker indicating the floor.
- NRA Identifiers. See Media:INVENTOR.TXT. Barcodes may have been generated by a software from "Worthington Data Solutions"
- It's possible that there is an older format of barcodes:
REASSIGN.DBhas a mapping of these.- Barcode or number which has a format of XYYYYYY Where X is a letter representing the organization and Y is a 6-digit number which is a leading-zero-padded sequence number starting at 000001
- These commonly had Barcodes, but check for handwritten numbers of the same format!!!
- X is a letter which indicates (vaguely) the organization. See
LABEL.DB- A: ANL: T. Fritz, D. Doyle
- D: DAVIS: J. Parks, O. Raabe

- X is a letter which indicates (vaguely) the organization. See

Conventions of Specific Labs
- UCD / Davis Boxes: See file Media:UCD_DOC.W51.PDF
- HRAD51\PNL9NRA\JNS makes mention of a physical box inventory
Boxes by animal
Monkeys
- Medical File folders exist (such as PK box 2582160) that start with an M and are followed by two or three digits. These appear to be ITRI records.
Pig
- Approximately 5 boxes containing pig records were returned to PK around mid 2022.
