Overview

Multiple databases were in use. This page describes nuanced information related to the structures, terminology and implementation of NRA data within these databases. It is not a page for the description of database software itself, nor is it concerned with topics such as normal forms, etc. The reader is expected to have an understanding of database types, common data structures, and best practices.

History

The NRA Database development team is Chuck Watson and Sean Smith at PNL and Don Doyle at ANL. Chuck and Sean are implementing the system using PARADOX on a MS-DOS compatible LAN using 386 and 486 microcomputer workstations. Don is implementing the system in Oracle on his VAX and his 386 microcomputer. Sean runs a copy of the Oracle version on his 486

A guide describing the NRA database table structures exists here: Media:Master9.w51.pdf
